This week I’ve been feeling overwhelmed. I’ve had a lot going on at school, and I’ve hit a roadblock with my blog. I don’t know what I want to write about, and I don’t know what I want to do with it next. I think I need to look at some more examples to get ideas. I’d like to add some pictures and/or video; I’m just not sure what. I don’t really want to put anything personal on my blog because I sort of want a mysterious identity of “ThirtyGirl.” Then again, if I don’t put in anything personal, then I don’t know what to do.
I know that sometimes my students have these moments too. They must feel really overwhelmed sometimes when they have a lot going on and also have to tap into their creative juices. My honors kids have this issue especially. It feels like they are overscheduled, and as a result, their brains often shut down because they’re completely overwhelmed.
Logically, I’ve always known this about them, but I think that this process is making me more sensitive to it. I’m hoping that I can learn some specific strategies (through my personal experience) to share with them how I overcome those moments.
